National Framework of Qualifications |
|
The National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) is a national qualifications system that allows us to compare qualifications and means that they can be recognised both home & abroad. The framework is a system of ten levels ranging from Level 1 all the way up to Level 10 – with ten being the maximum level of qualification you can achieve. Each level is based on nationally agreed standards of knowledge, skill and understanding associated with a particular piece of learning. In relation to childcare courses, there is a FETAC level 5 in Childcare, the next level up is supervision in Childcare which is a FETAC level 6. Following on from level 6 FETAC are no longer the accrediting body. From level 7 onwards the accrediting body is HETAC.
