Community Childcare Subvention Scheme

The Community Childcare Subvention (CCS) Scheme

This is a support scheme for community based childcare services to provide quality childcare services at reduced rates to qualifying parents. The CCS is administered by the Depertment of Children & Youth Affairs (DCYA) working with Pobal and the City and County Childcare Committees. Under the scheme qualifying parents can avail of a subsidy towards the cost of their childcare.  As a parent/guardian you will qualify if you fall into any of the following bands:

The CCS Scheme will allow eligible parents to access reduced childcare costs at participating community childcare services. The table below outlines the weekly subvention based on band A and B and the type of service the child is attending.

You can use the service for the full day or week; however the reduced rate for only a part time rate will apply, meaning you will pay the difference
Parents will be asked by the childcare service to complete a Parental Declaration Form in September of the relevant year. You will need your PPS number. They may also ask you for proof or evidence of entitlement to either Band A or B so they can start offering you the reduced rate before the Dept verifies the information (as sometimes this can take a while).

If you want further information on the scheme please contact either Cavan County Childcare Committee or your local participating community based childcare service.
